Why Did You Want to
Become a Dentist?
Dr. McGuirt knew she wanted to become a dentist from a young age. After experiencing oral surgery, multiple rounds of orthodontic treatment, and spending more than 25 years with the same trusted family dentist, she experienced firsthand the impact that a caring dental team can have on a person's life.
Those positive experiences inspired her to pursue dentistry so she could provide the same level of compassion, comfort, and support to others. Today, one of her favorite parts of being a dentist is building genuine relationships with her patients and earning their trust over time. She loves helping people achieve healthier, more confident smiles while improving their overall well-being through exceptional dental care.
Where Did You Study
Dentistry?
Originally from Denver, North Carolina, Dr. McGuirt built a strong educational foundation before beginning her dental career. She earned her Bachelor of Science in Cell and Molecular Biology with a minor in Chemistry from Appalachian State University before continuing there to complete a Master of Science in Cell and Molecular Biology.
She then earned her Doctor of Dental Medicine (DMD) degree from the East Carolina University School of Dental Medicine before completing an Advanced Education in General Dentistry (AEGD) residency at East Carolina University.
Her residency provided extensive hands-on experience in comprehensive dentistry, including preventive care, crowns and fillings, root canal therapy, extractions, pediatric dentistry, and fixed and removable prosthetics. Dr. McGuirt enjoys treating patients of all ages and continues to pursue advanced education in restorative dentistry so she can provide the latest techniques and technology to those she serves.

Outside of the Dental Office, What Do You Like to Do?
When she's away from the office, Dr. McGuirt enjoys spending as much time outdoors as possible. Whether she's reading a good book on a breezy screened porch, hiking through the Blue Ridge Mountains, relaxing on the lake or at the beach, or experimenting with new recipes in the kitchen, she appreciates life's simple moments.
Family is also incredibly important to her. She was raised in Denver, North Carolina, by her parents, who have been happily married for more than 40 years. Today, she shares life with her fiancé, David, and their three beloved pets: Ophelia, their sassy cat, Marlin, their 20-pound gentle giant of a cat, and Benny, their sweet Goldendoodle.
One fact that has greatly shaped Dr. McGuirt's journey is that she is a first-generation college graduate. The hard work and determination it took to achieve her goals continue to influence the way she practices dentistry today—with empathy, honesty, and a commitment to making every patient feel comfortable, respected, and cared for.
