Why Choose BridgeMill Dental Care for Implant Dentures?

What Are Implant Dentures?

Similar to traditional ones, implant dentures are made up of a gum-colored base that holds artificial teeth in place. With our technology and expertise, we can take incredibly accurate impressions to ensure your prosthetics fit perfectly over your gum line. The difference, however, is that your implant dentures will be directly anchored to your jawbone via metal posts as opposed to resting atop your gums. Here are the two kinds of options you can expect to choose from:

Fixed/Permanent Implant Dentures

Fixed or permanent implant dentures are meant to remain secured in your mouth indefinitely. The only one who should be able to remove them is your dentist when it’s time for your checkups and cleanings. For these to work, you’ll need to have sufficient jawbone density to support the metal posts. However, once you have them in, you won’t have to worry about them coming off!

Removable Implant Dentures

These types are sometimes referred to as “snap-on dentures”. They typically use ball attachments/clasps that let patients remove the dentures at any time for oral hygiene while still benefiting from the dental implants. Though this kind of implant denture requires more care, you may not need as many titanium posts to support it.

The Implant Denture Process

The first step of the process is to undergo an initial consultation with your dentist or oral surgeon to determine if implant dentures are a viable solution for you. If you require preliminary treatments, such as bone grafting or periodontal therapy, then we can provide you with the care you need to get you ready for implant surgery.

Our team will refer you to our trusted local implant specialist for treatment. During your appointment, you’ll have your mouth completely numbed before your oral surgeon makes small incisions in your gums to reach your jawbone. After they’ve embedded your dental implants and sutured your gum tissue around them, you’ll be sent home to recover. The healing process can take three to six months, as your implants should bond with your jawbone via osseointegration. Once you’re recovered, you’ll come back to our office to receive your dentures.

Am I a Candidate for Implant Dentures?

If you’ve lost all of your pearly whites and have strong jawbone tissue, then you may be a good candidate for implant dentures. Your oral health will need to be in great condition as well. If you have any underlying issues that need to be addressed, we’ll provide treatment for them before moving forward with your procedure. This will ensure a smoother process and increase your chance of successful implant dentures.
